The new Barracuda SX shares many of the design features of the 600HP model, but has a single 350HP engine, a revised seating configuration and weighs around 20% less than its sister vessel.

Unveiled at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show, the SX uses the same Lorne Campbell designed 9.2m hull and, in initial sea trials, reach a speed of 57 knots, a pace she is expected to exceed with further prop refinements.

The SX will retail at £129,000 (plus tax) placing her firmly within reach of the top end UK leisure buyer, although she will still have appeal in Wahoo’s core market of Superyacht owners.

Wahoo’s technical director Julian Willmott said: “Since the launch of the Barracuda we have had strong interest from the UK but needed a vessel with the right specification and at the price point. The SX ticks all the right boxes and is still built to the same exacting standards as our other boats.”

The season starts with the Antibes Yacht Show on April 7^th, and then it’s off for a date with some of the fastest cars in the world featuring at the Top Marques http://www.topmarquesmonaco.com/index.shtml show in Monaco on April 14. The show brings together all the top brands in the world for a unique interactive show where show-goers can test and buy the cars right there and then. The Barracuda will be on show and available for sea trial.

After Monaco it’s off to the Cannes International Boat and Yacht Show in September and ending the season in Monaco for the Monaco Yacht Show where we will be partnering with Burgess once again.

Burgess is one of the world’s most respected names in the superyacht industry and will have at least six mega yachts on show.

The show, which runs from September 22-25 The Monaco Yacht Show is the most prestigious gathering of large ships on the planet : A selection of 100 exceptional super and mega-yachts from 25 to over 90 m long are presented by the most renowned brokers and shipyards.

It is a unique, world-first occasion to visit fortyish of the most beautiful motor and sailing-yachts built in 2010 and whose average size is about 45 meters in length.

The Barracuda RX

The 2010 Great British RIB Rally will offer a genuine challenge, around a tortuous coast that will require good seamanship and rigorous boat preparation.

The timetable is demanding, yet planned, to allow time for exploration and fuel efficient travel between stopovers. The circumnavigation of this unique and stunning coastline will cover approximately 2000 nautical miles with several overnight stops in beautiful locations.

This adventure will help demonstrate the versatility of rigid hull inflatable boats (RIBs) as a long distance cruising vessel capable of the task in some of the most demanding coastal waters in the world, whilst raising monies for good and needy causes.

Although being run as a non-competitive event, one of the opportunities the rally throws up is for the raising of substantial funds for charity. Any excess funds raised by the rally from entrance fees or sponsorship will be given to Help the Hospices.

RIBEX May 7-9 Cowes Marina, Isle of Wight

Team Cool Running will start by competing in The 2010 Great British RIB Rally – a 12-day event that circumnavigates mainland Great Britain and Ireland in June 2010.

The full details of the build are being kept under wraps, but the vessel is broadly based on our flagship Barracuda. She will share the same hull technology but has been lightened to meet the demands of serious powerboat racing. The vessel will be officially handed over to the race team this Spring when the story of this awesome machine will be revealed here on our website.
